Day 1 - Ciao - we made it to Florence

Just a quick update to let everyone following our course know we made it to Florence without any trouble.  What a fantastic group of students.

Here we are in the Munich airport, very well rested and refreshed after our trans-atlantic flight :)...



Once in Florence, we checked into our apartments, had orientation with LdM University and headed to the local grocery store for some food for the week.  It's certainly not Walmart but had a surprisingly high amount if single-use plastic, especially in their produce section. This is a change from what I experienced here 2 years ago.  It also had some amazing breads and pastries and tons of olive oils!



We ended with a FANTASTIC "Welcome" Meal, hosted by LdM at the Ristorante Pizzeria Il Teatro.  The appetizers and desserts were the highlight of the mean and were fantastic..., procuitto, amazimng breads and cheeses and for dessert, flan, Panna cotta, Tiramisu.  The pizza was also fantastic!  The group is getting along fantastic, but several of us were nodding off at the dinner table.  We are dog tired but excited for a big day tomorrow.
